Yakup is a Trainee Solicitor at Stoke White, specialising in International Criminal Law and International Human Rights Law. He has drafting and legal support experience in conducting investigations in War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity in Yemen, Syria and the Israel-Palestine conflict. Prior to this, Yakup investigated white collar crime and sanctions requested by US national departments, as well as in national and international courts, including at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
Yakup has been highly effective in assisting lawyers, meeting clients and taking statements while bridging the communication divide between Turkish-speaking clients and English-speaking lawyers.
He holds an Honours degree in LLB Law (Hons.) from the University of Hertfordshire, has an M.A degree in European Studies from King’s College London and completed his Legal Practice Course (LPC) at London Metropolitan University. Yakup speaks English, Turkish and Kurdish.
